ফখরুলের সঙ্গে নেপালের রাষ্ট্রদূতের বৈঠক | Meeting Between Mirza Fakhrul and Nepal's Ambassador

বিএনপির মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীরের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করেছেন ঢাকায় নিযুক্ত নেপালের রাষ্ট্রদূত ঘনশ্যাম ভান্ডারী। আজ সোমবার সকালে ঢাকার গুলশানে বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসনের কার্যালয়ে প্রায় এক ঘণ্টার জন্য তাঁরা আলোচনা করেন।

বৈঠকে সার্ককে এগিয়ে নেওয়া এবং পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতার মাধ্যমে নেপালের জলবিদ্যুৎ বাংলাদেশে আনার বিষয়ে আলোচনা হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য আমীর খসরু মাহমুদ চৌধুরী।

বৈঠকে মির্জা ফখরুলের সঙ্গে বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য আমীর খসরু মাহমুদ চৌধুরী এবং দলের আন্তর্জাতিক বিষয়ক কমিটির সদস্য শামা ওবায়েদ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অন্যদিকে, নেপালের রাষ্ট্রদূতের সঙ্গে ডেপুটি চিফ অব মিশন ললিতা সিলওয়াল উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

সাক্ষাৎ শেষে আমীর খসরু মাহমুদ চৌধুরী সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, "সাবেক প্রেসিডেন্ট জিয়াউর রহমানের যে স্বপ্ন ছিল সার্কের মাধ্যমে দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার উন্নয়ন, তা আমরা এখনো পূর্ণরূপে অর্জন করতে পারিনি। নেপালের রাষ্ট্রদূতের মতামত, দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে, এবং সেই স্বপ্ন বাস্তবায়নের লক্ষ্যে আমরা সবাই একসঙ্গে কাজ করতে পারি।"

তিনি আরও বলেন, "নেপালের জলবিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্র রয়েছে। বিদ্যুৎ ক্ষেত্রে গত ১৫ বছরে যে কলঙ্কিত অধ্যায় ছিল, সেখান থেকে বেরিয়ে আসার সুযোগ আছে। পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতার মাধ্যমে নেপালের জলবিদ্যুৎ বাংলাদেশে আনার সম্ভাবনা আমরা কাজে লাগাতে চাই।"

বিএনপি স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য আমীর খসরু আরও বলেন, দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার উন্নয়নে সার্ককে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার বিষয়েও তাঁদের মধ্যে আলোচনা হয়েছে এবং সকলের একসঙ্গে কাজ করার গুরুত্বারোপ করা হয়েছে।

Meeting Between Mirza Fakhrul and Nepal's Ambassador

The Secretary General of BNP, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, met with Nepal's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Dhaka, this Monday morning. They engaged in discussions for nearly an hour.

According to BNP’s Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, the meeting included talks about advancing SAARC and exploring mutual cooperation in bringing hydraulic power from Nepal to Bangladesh.

In attendance with Mirza Fakhrul were Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and BNP's International Affairs Committee member Shama Obaid, while Deputy Chief of Mission Lalita Silwal accompanied the Nepalese Ambassador.

Following the meeting, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury informed reporters, “The vision SAARC once held, initiated by our late President Ziaur Rahman, has not reached its intended potential. The Nepalese Ambassador believes that South Asia had opportunities for growth, and the dreams envisioned through SAARC are yet to be fully realized. Moving forward, we aim to work together to harness South Asia’s development potential.”

He further mentioned, “Nepal possesses hydraulic power plants. We recognize an opportunity to overcome the setbacks that plagued our power sector over the past 15 years. Through mutual cooperation, it’s possible to bring hydraulic power from Nepal to Bangladesh. We want to explore this potential.”

Amir Khasru added that the conversation also covered the importance of progressing SAARC to benefit South Asia and emphasized the need for united efforts to achieve SAARC’s original objectives.
